Washington Nationals Schedule – Washington, D.C.’s eighth MBL franchise
The eighth Major League Baseball franchise to hail from the U.S. capital city, the Washington Nationals, are also the newest, having only formed in 1969. You can both buy and sell the Washington Nationals schedule tickets on StubHub.
Formerly the Montreal Expos
The Washington Nationals began life back in 1969 as the Montreal Expos. In 2002, the Canadian team was bought by Major League Baseball and three years later relocated to the United States’ capital where they were given their new moniker. This also made the Nationals the first MLB team to move since 1971 when the Washington Senators travelled to Texas. They were also the eighth Major League team to be based in the historic city with predecessors including the Washington Blue Legs, and the Washington Statesmen. Thanks to high profile draft picks, including Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon and Stephen Strasburg, the Nationals picked up four division titles in the 2010s and in 2019, also won their first ever National League pennant. That same year, the team finally made the World Series for the first time after defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Champion Series. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see one of the newest Major League Baseball franchises in action and take a look at the range of the Washington Nationals schedule tickets currently on offer at StubHub.
The electric atmosphere of Nationals Park
The Washington Nationals initially called the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium their home after relocating from Montreal in 2005. But three years later, they relocated to Nationals Park, a 41,000-capacity stadium situated along the city’s Anacostia River. The venue has hosted the NHL Winter Classic, a Papal Mass and various pop concerts by the likes of One Direction, Billy Joel and Taylor Swift over the years. However, it’s still best known as the home of the Washington Nationals, with Baseball Hall of Famers, such as Ivan Rodriguez and Frank Robinson, just a few of the star players who have pulled on the famous scarlet red and white kit on its field. Fans should look forward to an electric atmosphere, particularly when rivals the Baltimore Orioles come to town to compete in The Battle of the Beltways.
