The Head and The Heart background
Composed of Jonathan Russel, Josiah Johnson, Kenny Hensley, Chris Zasche, Charity Rose Thielen and Tyler Williams, this indie-folk group started out busking on the streets of Seattle, quickly gaining a following across the Pacific-Northwest, famed for its vibrant music scene. The band spent 2010 touring the West Coast of the USA before they self-released their debut album, self-titled The Head and The Heart. This The Head and The Heart album launched the band to national fame thanks to songs like "Lost In My Mind" and "Coeur D'Alene" and the group soon signed a record deal with Sub Pop, leading to a 2011 re-issue of their debut album.
Boasting rich, lush harmonies and heart-warming melodies, The Head and The Heart tapped into the market that was broken open by bands like Mumford and Sons and Vampire Weekend. Winning over fans worldwide, the second album Let's Be Still was released in 2013 and reached number 10 on the US Billboard 200, thanks to great The Head and The Heart songs "Shake" and "Homecoming Heroes". A The Head and The Heart tour followed in 2014 and then, without taking a break, the band started working on their third album Signs Of Light. Released in 2016, this new The Head and The Heart album charted at number 5 on the US Billboard 200 and number one on the Top Rock Albums chart.
