Australia regain the Ashes
Many predicted that this Ashes series would be tantalizingly close. Both England and Australia had won 32 series each with only 5 series ending in draws. However, Australia ruthlessly demolished England in the first three tests and took an unassailable 3-0 lead after winning the third test in Perth at the WACA by an innings and 41 runs.
Before this series, England held the Ashes after their 3-1 victory in the 2015 series and Australia were desperate to win it back on home soil. Perhaps what gave Australia the edge was the fact that they were on home soil and their famous fast bowlers terrorized England's batsmen. Also, playing in the Australian summer has always proved notoriously difficult for England's all-time test wicket-taker James Anderson who is always dangerous in England's overcast conditions.
With two tests to go in this 2017-18 Ashes series, England will be hoping to restore some of their hurt pride while Australia will be looking for a cricketing coronation. Even though the result is now certain, there is a lot more cricket still to be paid. Buy Ashes tickets here and see who will have the final say.

The Ashes History
While cricket competitions such as the Cricket World Cup are revered in Australia, nothing beats the popularity of the most famous test cricket down under, the Ashes! We all know this is a historical cricket event between Australia and England but why is it called the Ashes? Well, worry not cricket and sports fans alike, because StubHub has done the research for you! The name comes from an English newspaper, The Sporting Times which stated, just after Australia had beaten England on English soil, that English cricket had died and “the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia". England’s follow-up campaign began with the then captain, Ivo Bligh, vowing to “Regain those ashes.” Media frenzy then ensued and pretty soon England’s tour to Australia became known as “the quest to regain the Ashes”. After England won two of the three tests of the tour, Bligh was presented with a small urn, the contents of which had supposedly been the ashes of a wooden bail also known as The Ashes of Australia! Keep in mind this was over one hundred and thirty years ago, and is a testament in itself to how the game of cricket has stood the test of time!
While the urn isn’t actually an official trophy of the series, replicas of the urn have often been held up by victorious teams, and a Waterford Crystal representation known as the Ashes Trophy is the games official trophy! Now back in Australia's field, do the Australian cricketers have what it takes to win it back? Find out and buy tickets for an Ashes cricket match now, here at StubHub!
