Winners of the 2002 Super Bowl
Founded in 1976, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers joined the National Football League with the Seattle Seahawks as an expansion team. Following a brief spell in the AFC West, the men in red switched to the NFC Central Division and in 1979 became the first post-merger team to lift a division championship, play and stage a conference championship game and achieve a playoff victory. The franchise were also crowned NFC Central Champions in 1981 and 1999 before joining the Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints in the newly created American Football Conference West in 2002. That same year, the team also reached their first ever Super Bowl, defeating the Oakland Raiders 48-21, and went on to add a further two AFC West titles to their trophy cabinet during the ‘00s under the ownership of businessman Malcolm Glazer. The 65,000-capacity Raymond James Stadium
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers called Tampa Stadium their home until 1997 when they moved to the Raymond James Stadium. Offensive guard Randall McDaniel, defensive tackle Warren Rapp, wide receiver Tim Brown and linebacker Derrick Brooks are just a few of the Pro Football Hall of Famers who have pulled on the famous red uniform at the 65,000-capacity multi-purpose venue over the years, while notable head coaches include Tony Dungy, Jon Gruden, Dirk Koetter and Bruce Arians. Fans can look forward to experiencing all the long-held Buccaneers traditions whenever they head to the bustling Tampa Stadium on matchdays, including appearances from the popular Caribbean pirate mascot known as Captain Fear and the official pep squad named simply the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders. The loyal crowd is in particularly strong voice whenever The Bucs’ rivals, the Green Bay Packers, pay a visit. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see the historic team in action and check out the various Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets now available on StubHub.
