Legends of rock
Among the longest running bands in the history of rock & roll, the Scorpions have been rocking stages all around the world since 1965. The band was founded in Hanover, Germany, and is best known for producing some of the most iconic rock hits of all time. Scorpions have been actively playing and recording since the mid-60s, but it was only during the 70s that the band got onto the road to commercial success. In 1979, the band released their sixth studio album, ‘Love Drive’, which is considered to be the album that propelled them to stardom. The album contained some of their greatest songs including the slow rock hits, "Always Somewhere", "Holiday", and the steady glam rock classic, "Loving You Sunday Morning". The wide success and positive reception of ‘Love Drive’ cemented the band’s formula of combining musical elements of metal, glam, and power ballad. The 80s again saw more hits coming from Scorpions with the release of their ninth studio album, ‘Love at First Sting’. The album included more iconic power ballads and hard rock hits like "Still Loving You" and "Rock You Like a Hurricane".
A multi-award winning band
Throughout their career, Scorpions have received several awards which include: Best German Live Band in 1975, World Music Award in 1994, Cultural Prize of the City of Hanover in 2000, Rock Legend Award in 2010, Metal Guru Award in 2011, and Steiger Award in 2013, just to cite a few. Scorpions’ signature sound and musical arrangement is best known for being primarily guitar driven, where most songs combine acoustic guitar intros followed by distorted power chords and heavy riffs, often with blazing guitar solos. Scorpions have also been associated with hair-metal due to their long hair and thrash-fashion styling, which were quite common for rock bands during the era of their peak.
