Based in the sunny state of California, the San Jose Earthquakes compete as part of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). Beginning in 1996, and then called the San Jose Clash, San Jose took part in the first ever MLS game, defeating D.C. United 1–0 on a historic day. Since then The Earthquakes have gone on to create further MLS history by securing a number of trophies.San Jose play their home games at the Avaya Stadium an 18,000 capacity stadium that is often filled with passionate fans on matchday.
