Rich Little's years as the stars
Hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Little honed his craft in his early teens by impersonating famous Canadian politicians in local night clubs, before releasing two comedy LPs, the first My Fellow Canadians, made up of political impressions and satire, followed by Scrooge and the Stars, a comedy retelling of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol featuring impressions ranging from John Wayne to Alfred Hitchcock, voices that would go on to make Little a star. Off the back off his comedy albums, Little would get his big break in the early ‘60s appearing on American TV shows like The Judy Garland Show, where he impersonated many celebrities including James Mason and Jimmy Stewart. Little would spend the rest of his career in the spotlight appearing on such legendary TV shows as The ABC Comedy Hour, The Dean Martin Comedy Roasts, and it was his appearances as a guest on talk-shows like The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and The Late Show with David Letterman, where he would famously revel in impersonating the show's hosts, that solidified his reputation as one of the best impressionists around. Little’s talents as an impressionist have seen him appear in several HBO television specials, TV shows and movies as well as performing live for George W. Bush at the White House correspondents dinner in Washington D.C.
