Portugal The Man background
Portugal The Man began as a side project by lead singer John Gourley while he was in the band Anatomy of a Ghost. After that band split up, Gourley decided to focus all on his efforts on this side project. The Portugal The Man members are John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Jason Sechrist and Eric Howk. Gourley and Carothers met at High School in Wasilla, Alaska. interestingly, the band is from the same town as controversial Alaskan politician Sarah Palin. The bands first two albums were released on Fearless Records and in 2010 the band signed to Atlantic Records.
In total, Portugal The Man have released eight albums. In fact, before releasing Woodstock in 2017, the band were releasing an album almost once a year. Their albums are Waiter: "You Vultures!"
