New Levels New Devils
Consisting of guitarists Scott LePage and Tim Henson, drummer Brandon Burkhalter, and bassist Clay Gober, Polyphia formed in Plano, Texas, in 2011. They first caught attention performing classical guitar covers on YouTube and briefly toyed with using vocals on their 2011 debut EP "Resurrect" before reinventing themselves as an entirely instrumental progressive-rock quartet on the 2013 follow-up "Inspire." Their independently released full-length debut "Muse" arrived a year later with sophomore album "Renaissance" hitting the shelves in 2016 via the label Equal Vision. Clay Aeschliman then replaced Burkhalter that same year before the band added to their catalog with the 2017 EP "The Most Hated," followed by the 2018 LP "New Levels New Devils." Former Chelsea Grin guitarist Jason Richardson, Intervals leader Aaron Marshall, and Covet front woman Yvette Young are just a few of the gifted musicians who have played with the band in the studio and on stage. Mathematical rhythms, guitar shreds, pop melodies
August Burns Red, Between the Buried and Me, and Periphery are just a handful of the prog-metal giants who have recognized Polyphia’s potential as a live act over the years and invited them on tour. However, the group’s influences extend far beyond the usual mathematical rhythms and guitar shreds. The quartet have incorporated everything from hip-hop and pop to R&B and EDM over the years, resulting in an intriguing genre-hopping sound that allows them to showcase their natural flair for a winning melody. It’s little wonder, therefore, that Polyphia have become a must-see act, whether it’s headlining their own intimate shows or gracing the stages at festivals such as ArcTanGent and the Minecraft-based Mine Gala. Fans should expect to hear all the favourites, including "Look But Don’t Touch," "G.O.A.T.," "Crush," and "40oz," all of which have racked up more than a million views on YouTube. If you haven’t yet seen the band in their element, then take a look at the Polyphia tickets now available on StubHub.
