Based in Orange County, California the Orange County Blues are a football club founded in 2013. Today the team play in the United Soccer League which is a division II league in the American Soccer Pyramid. Anyone with Orange County Blues FC tickets can enjoy a fantastic display of football by attending the teams home ground at Great Park in Irvine, California, or by following the team to any of their regular away matches with another teams. The OC Blues are a comparatively young team, even by US standards, so they do not yet have some of the achievements that other teams may boast of. What they do have is talent and enthusiasm, coupled with a vision to make the OC Blues the best soccer team in the US and beyond.
The origins of the Orange County Blues FC
While Orange County Blues were founded in 2013, the origins of the team actually go back further. It was December 2010 when the then Los Angeles Blues were formally launched. The LA Blues was associated with the United Soccer Leagues W-League, and formed a part of the Orange County Blues organisation which had been competing amateur leagues in the Los Angeles area as far back as 1998. The first official games for the LA Blues took place in April 2011 in the Caribbean where they managed to beat both Sevilla Puerto Rico, and Antigua Barracuda. Their first home base was the Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California. They moved from there in 2013, and took up residence at the Anteater Stadium in Irvine. Their most recent move has been to the Champion Stadium at Great Park, where they have been located since 2017, and have quickly established themselves as a vital part of the local community.
Orange County Blues FC goes professional
Football fans can't help but notice that the number of people buying Orange County Blues FC tickets is growing. This dates back to a decision taken in 2012 to appoint Steve Donner, the former CEO of Orlando City. He joined the OC Blues as vice president of business operations with a specific mandate to improve marketing for the club, and to bring a more professional approach to the former amateur operation. Donner's efforts were rewarded almost immediately with an crowd attendance for the first game of the 2012 season of 2,432. The previous season had an average attendance of only 382. Since that time the Orange County Blues have continued their advance into professionalism, as their 2017 move to the new Great Park Stadium demonstrates. Anyone buying tickets to watch them in action will be richly rewarded with some of the best soccer to be found anywhere in the USA. The management of the OC Blues have a vision to build a club that will be recognised not just nationally in the US, but eventually internationally as well.
