Las Vegas Aviators—minor league baseball team
Previously known as the Las Vegas Stars and the Las Vegas 51s, the Las Vegas Aviators are a minor league baseball team with no fewer than two PCL championships to their name. You can both buy and sell Las Vegas Aviators tickets on StubHub.
Formerly the Las Vegas Stars
The Las Vegas Aviators began life in 1983 as the Las Vegas Stars, the first professional sports franchise to be based in the city since baseball team the Las Vegas Wranglers back in the 1950s. Just three years later, they picked up the Pacific Coast League Championship after beating the Vancouver Canadians across five games, and they repeated the feat two years later when they defeated the same team over four matches. By this point, the Aviators had also won five division titles, going on to add a further two in the 1990s. In 2001, the team were renamed the Las Vegas 51s, in a reference to the military base known as Area 51, and a year later were crowned champions for an eighth time. Another name change occurred in 2019 when they signed an affiliate deal with the Oakland Athletics and became the Las Vegas Aviators. Named after reclusive aviation legend Howard Hughes, the men in orange, tangerine, navy blue, gold, grey, and yellow once again lifted the PCL Championship that same year. From Cashman Field to Las Vegas Ballpark
After spending the first quarter-century of their existence at Cashman Field, now the home of the Las Vegas Lights FC, the Las Vegas Aviators then moved to the Las Vegas Ballpark in 2018. Situated adjacent to the City National Arena and opposite the Downtown Summerlin Shopping Center, the venue can hold up to 10,000 visitors at one time. Some of the most notable players to have pulled on the famous jersey over the years include PCL MVPs such as Kevin McReynolds, Sandy Alomar Jr., Randy Ruiz, and PCL Rookie of the Year Amed Rosario, while coaches have included PCL Manager of the Year Brad Mills, Wally Backman, and Fran Riordan. The team now boasts not just one but two different mascots since changing their name, with both The Aviator and Spruce the Goose entertaining the crowds before and during each game.
