All about Korn
Korn was founded in Bakersfield, California, by Jonathan Davis, James Shaffer and Brian Welch, among others. The band formed in 1993 and released their debut album a year later, called Simply Korn. Their self-titled debut album spawned the song "Shoots and Ladders," but "Blind" was the only single to gain recognition on the music charts. Their second EP Life is Peachy, went double platinum within a year! Yet for many fans the real breakthrough was the album Follow the Leader, which spawned "Freak on a Leash" and "Got the Life," hit singles which are now two of the most popular songs in rock history. At the time, the quintet’s nu-metal sound was incredibly innovative due to its grim lyrics, heavy guitars and almost hip-hop-like energy. With the album Issues, released only one year later, Korn was finally on the map. The previously rather obscure nu-metal movement became mainstream, becoming an inspiration for many other bands, such as Slipknot and Sepultura. Having 20 years of experience under their belts, Korn can now boast of being nominated for seven Grammy Awards, of which they have won two. The rock stars were also nominated for eleven MTV Music Awards and received two. Indeed, Korn continues to be one of the most influential bands in modern rock history.
In later years, Korn has started to experiment with new genres and other types of music. The most extreme example is the tenth studio album of the band, The Path of Totality. Korn works with various famous dubstep artists, including Skrillex and Datsik, to give their music an extra dimension. After several years of musical silence, the Californian group takes the road for the presentation of their new album The Serenity of Suffering. The thirteen-track album is loaded with exceptionally strong energy with much more aggressive and intense sound than its predecessors.
