Hailing from Dallas, Texas, John Ford Coley grew up listening to the Grand Ole Opry and trained as a classical pianist. His musical career began in the 1970s alongside schoolmate England Dan Seals. Together, the duo released eight albums in ten short years which earned them a Grammy nomination and a number of bestselling singles, including the hit song, "I’d really love to see you tonight". Taken from their 1976 album "Nights are forever", the track was a worldwide success, storming the charts in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK and the US. It also featured on the soundtrack of the 1996 film, "The long kiss goodnight". The band’s other popular hits include "Love is the answer" and "Nights are forever without you". After the duo disbanded in 1980, Coley delved into acting for a short time before going on to write songs for film and television.
