Indoor Football League history
This section should discuss history, milestones, live performance and any other relevant and interesting information for fans and ticket buyers.
Indoor football has existed in a variety of forms in the US with organised indoor football games taking place as early as the 20th Century. More recently, there have been various attempts to bring an abridged version of the game to a wider audience. The creation of the Intense Football League in 2003 and the United Indoor Football Association in 2004 finally resulted in the Indoor Football League we have today.
The two leagues joined in 2008 and in 2009 the Indoor Football League emerged with 19 active teams. The league has grown and contracted over the years but currently stands at ten teams competing across the United and Intense Conferences. The IFL continues to grow in popularity and the 2013 season proved to be one of the most successful in IFL history with IFL teams averaging around 4,000 fans per game.

The Indoor Football League culminates in the United Bowl, and just three teams currently dominate proceedings. The Billings Outlaws defeated the River City Rage in the first United Bowl Final in 2009. The Billings went on to record back to back titles with a 2010 victory before the Sioux Falls Storm took over.
After snagging their first title in 2011, the Storm have gone on to win a further five Union Bowls and have recorded six consecutive victories with a 100% finals record from 2011 to 2016. The Nebraska Danger have suffered the majority of the heartache with three consecutive final defeats at the hands of the Storm including a 40-43 defeat in 2013. IFL fans are eager to see if the Storm can win another consecutive title or if the Danger can finally end years of disappointment. Witness all the drama live in the flesh with Indoor Football League (IFL) tickets on StubHub.
