Luke Steele, a singer and songwriter who was born in Perth and Nick Littlemore, a well-known musician, producer and composer, who was born in Sydney teamed up several years ago and decided to work together on their music becoming members of one of the newest electronic dance and rock bands in the world, later known as Empire of the Sun. In 2008 the duo released their debut album called Walking on a Dream peaked at number six on the Australian music charts. This record included the great Empire of the Sun songs “Walking on a Dream”, “We are the People” and “Standing on the Shore”, which launched the futuristic band to stardom. “We are the people” even managed to peak at number one on the German charts! Due to their great worldwide success, some years later Littlemore and Steele released their second album called Ice on the Dune, which includes their lead single “Alive”. Then, in 2016, Empire of the Sun released their new album Two Vines, featuring the song "High and Low"-
So far they have released three studio albums, written many singles which have topped the charts, worked on several remixes, such as “Applause” from Lady Gaga and recorded several music videos. To top it off, the band has won eight ARIA Awards and two APRA Awards since they first started. Littlemore even got to compose for Zarkana, one of the Cirque du Soleil shows and they both participated in several projects separately.
