All about Devendra Banhart
Originally born in Houston, Texas in eighty-one, Banhart was raised by his mother iVenezuelala when his parents divorced when Banhart was two! With his mother later remarrying, his stepfather moved the family back to North America, settling down in Los Angeles, California when Banhart was fourteen! Devendra actually stands as a synonym for Indra, the Hindu king of Gods! Banhart can also boast a middle name of Obi, based on Obi-Wan Kenobi, the star wars Jedi master! And while the more sceptical among us may scoff at Banhart’s self-mythologizing, but Banhart has proved steadfast saying “If there’s anyone we relate to, it’s our moms and dads, it’s older hippies, people into Eastern philosophies and New Age, in the sense that if you look at the seed of every religion, it’s all the same, so let’s start our own vague one based on love and peace and unity and going within.” The L.A times described his Banhart’s sound as “acoustic and hypnotic, warm and approachable” and it’s not hard to understand why!
