BoA – an influential Korean singer and entertainer
BoA, otherwise known as Kwon Bo-ah, is a multilingual songwriter and singer who has been active in South Korea, Japan, and the USA ever since the start of her career. She has been referred to as the "Queen of K-Pop" and, with over 18 studio albums under her belt, she’s produced albums in Korean, Japanese and English. A versatile singer who attributes her initial style to hip-hop, her love of R&B also shines through in her songs. She has said that her earliest influence came from Korean singer Seo Tae-Ji, but she also attributed inspiration to artists such as Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Bruno Mars. In turn, she herself has been linked with artists such as j-pop’s Hikaru Utada and Ayumi Hamasaki, as well as headlining with Solange Knowles and The Cliks at the San Francisco Pride Festival in 2009 after her American debut the year before. It’s worth keeping your eyes open for BoA tickets, which can be found for sale on the StubHub website along with information about venues and price categories.
Worldwide appeal and fame
BoA's career started out by sheer coincidence when, at the age of 11, she accompanied her older brother to a breakdancing audition and was spotted by talent scouts who offered her a contract. After two years of initial training, including both singing and dancing lessons, as well as language lessons (in English and Japanese), she released her debut album entitled "ID; Peace Be" in 2000. With the launch of her debut Japanese album, "Listen to my Heart", she was the first Korean artist to successfully produce an album in Japan after the 2002 lifting of the ban that had been created to prevent the movement of entertainment between Korea and Japan during the Second World War. She was also determined to promote her music in the USA and launched her self-titled album in America in 2009. If you’d like to see her performing live, be sure to get BoA tickets on StubHub now. You could also check out artists like Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, and Taeyeon.
