History of Bill Engvall
The most notable thing that Engvall has done for the comedy community is creating the Blue Collar Group. With the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, he has crossed the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom six times, with various other names. He has also enjoyed tours with Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy. After high school, he attended Georgetown’s Southwestern University, but opted for disc jockeying and tour guiding instead. It was only in 1990 that he chose to do comedy full time, and was able to land a place in An Evening at The Improv on A&E.
At the American Comedy Awards two years later, he won the Best Male Standup Award, which led him to his popular role on the ABC show Delta. It took another four years to finally release his first comedy album, “Here’s Your Sign.” That album peaked at the Billboard Country album chart at fifth place. His most recent album, Aged and Confused, was released in 2009. After some touring, he chose to start the Blue Collar Comedy Tours with Foxworthy, which featured a number of well-known comedians. The now-defunct WB Network televised the comedy shows on Blue Collar TV.
Bill Engvall's Achievements
After winning the Best Male Standup Award in 1992, Engvall’s career took off. He achieved things he never believed possible. However, in 2011, he was offered the chance to re-launch GSN’s Lingo. It was a chance for a new chapter in his life, which he had been a fan off in the past. He’d also admitted that he’d had fun co-hosting Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? with Foxworthy previously. In 2013, he was offered the chance to star on reality show Dancing with the Stars, where he received high scores of 21 for his jive in the second week and 24 for his Paso Doble in week three. Despite being placed in the bottom two by the judges after that, fans kept voting for him and he made it to the finals, ahead of technically-better dancers. Finishing fourth on the show proved his popularity with the fans. To see what the fuss is about, buy your Bill Engvall tickets at StubHub now!
