From "Let Go" to "Head Above Water"
Born in the Canadian city of Belleville in 1984, Avril Lavigne burst onto the scene in 2002 with "Let Go", an anthemic pop-punk debut which spawned numerous inescapable hits, topped the charts worldwide and established her as a bona fide teen icon. Co-written with the likes of Ben Moody from Evanescence and Chantal Kreviazuk, her 2004 sophomore "Under My Skin" continued her remarkable early success, reaching pole position on the Billboard 200 and establishing her as Canada’s third biggest-selling female artist ever behind Shania Twain and Celine Dion. Her first husband, Deryck Whibley from Sum 41, and blink-182’s Travis Barker helped to give 2007’s "The Best Damn Thing" an extra punk-pop sheen, while her divorce from the former gave Lavigne the inspiration for her highly personal 2011 LP, "Goodbye Lullaby". Lavigne also worked with her second husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, on her eponymous 2013 studio effort before taking a break from the music industry. She returned in style in 2019 with her acclaimed sixth record, "Head Above Water". Take a look at the various Avril Lavigne tickets currently on offer at StubHub.
Get ready to dig out those cargo pants
Avril Lavigne first hit the road the year that "Let Go" launched her to worldwide stardom with 2002’s "Try To Shut Me Up Tour". She’s since launched five different treks across the globe, including 2019’s "Head Above Water", her first run of shows in five years which took in North America, Japan and Europe. Fans of Lavigne’s early material can wallow in nostalgia thanks to renditions of pop-punk classics like "Complicated", "My Happy Ending", "Sk8er Boi", "He Wasn’t" and "Girlfriend" and emotive ballads that should have everyone holding their lighters in the air, such as "I’m With You", "Keep Holding On" and "When You’re Gone". But performances of more contemporary singles, such as Nicki Minaj collaboration "Dumb Blonde" and "I Fell In Love with the Devil", prove that Lavigne’s talent for penning a winning melody remains as strong as ever.
